RESEARCH CENTRE OF SOCIOLOGY
The research centre was established in 1985. Since its inception, the Research centre has built a reputation for itself, attracting innumerable scholars from all over Kerala. There are currently 5 Research Guides and scholars pursuing their quest for knowledge under them. Through research and evaluation, Dept. of Sociology has been consistently successful in moulding a socially dynamic group of scholars who are research-oriented and responsive to societal needs

Mission
To orient scholars into socially oriented, empirically grounded research activities this will enable in policy discussions and social development
Goals and objectives
· To make use of Scientific research endeavours to mould scientifically oriented, socially productive individuals
· Update the students and faculty on research and evaluation for the pursuit of academic excellence.
· Develop interest and confidence among the scholars in conducting experimental or non-experimental studies employing the qualitative or quantitative types of research.

Dr. Shally Joseph has completed a UGC Sponsored Minor Research Project on 'Role played by mothers in the socialization of food habits to prevent childhood obesity'
Dr. Gladis Mary John has completed a UGC sponsored Minor Research Project 'Problems of female nurses in Government Hospitals with special reference to Government Hospitals, Ernakulam.'
