The Obama-Singh 21^st Century Knowledge Initiative (OSI) award for 2011/12  was presented to the Mahatma Gandhi University, in partnership with Brown University, Duke University, and Plymouth State University, at the function organized on 11 September 2012 evening at St. Teresa’s College.

The Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Ms. Nancy Powell, U.S. Ambassador to India, presented a plaque commemorating the grant award to Prof. Rajan Gurukkal, Vice Chancellor, M.G. University, and delivered brief remarks.

The US Consulate also organised a seminar on Higher Education in the US the same afternoon. The seminar provided students with the rare opportunity to learn more about US educational visas and clarify issues regarding the same.
