WOMEN'S STUDY CENTER
As part of jubilee project,'Women Empowerment and Training', the college decided to set up Women's Study Center to offer job-oriented courses and life skill development for women. In this connection, two courses were initiated in the year 2002,and the courses were affiliated to Center of Continuing Education, Govt.of Kerala in the year 2007.

Due to huge demand for U.G.Programme in Fashion Designing, Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.T.) was started in the year 2008 under the M.G.University Off Campus Center.
Dr.Purandeswari,Hon.Minister of State for HRD (Higher Education),Govt.of India inaugurated a new UG course 'B.Sc. Apparel and Fashion Design' on 19th January 2012.
B.Sc. Apparel and Fashion Design is an undergraduate programme with six semesters. The course was inititated under the UGC Innovative Scheme inthe year 2012 with affiliation to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The course is based on the Core Subject - Design Thinking. The ultimate aim of the course is to create a responsible designer who will serve the country and society by innovation, education, technology and research

2010-2011
FASHION DESIGNING
Ms. Lekha Sreenivas conducted classes for small scale enterpreneurs of Karuvellipady at Rameshwaram Temple hall on February, 2011 on advanced pattern making techniques in association with KVMS, Kochi.
CLINICAL NUTRITION AND DIETETICS
I. Conducted counselling classes for rural women, mothers of infants and preschoolers, adolscent girls and anganwadi workers, assessed the nutritional status of the audience , conducted nutrition exhibition, cookery demonstration at ICDS, HMT Colony, Kalamassery.
The objective was to give awareness about health and hygiene, prevention of lifestyle disorders such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, underweight, vitamin A and iron deficiency on 7th October 2010.
· Created awareness about health and nutrition among women and anganwadi workers through entertainments like fashion show based on nutrition theme, skit, tablo, mime, kitchen orchestra, games and cookery demonstration etc.
II. Assessed the nutritional status of children below 5 years of St. Teresa's School - Kindergarten section on 24th September, 2010. Students distributed growth charts and height-weight charts for continual growth assessment of children.
III. Conducted health awareness programme for the women and children of ICDS, Mattancherry on 19th August, 2010 to give awareness about health and hygiene, prevention of health problems of preschoolers and infants, importance of immunisation, various weaning foods and diet during pregnancy and lactation through various entertainment programmes.
· Created awareness about health and nutrition among women and anganwadi workers through entertainments like fashion show based on nutrition theme, skit, tablo, mime, kitchen orchestra, games and cookery demonstration etc.
2009-2010
FASHION DESIGNING
Ms. Lekha Sreenivas conducted classes for women of ICDS, Mattancherry on pattern making and construction in the month of January, 2009 .The objective was to create awareness and teach them modern techniques in pattern making and construction and to provide technical up gradation to the women to keep them abreast with the competitive market.

· Conducted health awareness programme for the women and children of ICDS, Mattancherry in the month of May, 2010 to give awareness about health and hygiene and various nutiritonal related diseases.

FASHION DESIGNING
Ms. Lekha Sreenivas conducted classes for women of ICDS, Mattancherry and KVMS, Karuvelipady on printing, colour schemes and embroidery techniques in the month of September, 2008 .The objective was to create awareness and teach them techniques of block printing using vegetable and wooden blocks, importance of colour schemes and different embroidery techniques.

· Conducted nutrition and health counseling classes for adolescents and adults to give awareness on various nutrition related topics at Munambam, Vypeen on 5th May,2009.

Student Achievements:-
· Ms.Elizabeth Jeena Roy and Ms.Saranya V.O. bagged first and third ranks in the M.G.university B.F.T.Examinations respectively in the year 2011.They were the students of first batch of B.F.T.
· Final year BFT students bagged 2nd position in the Fashion Show conducted in NIT, Kozhikode in the year 2011.
· Ms.Rasna Thomas functioned as the Costume designer for the Calendar shoot of Miss.Kerala, 2010, and Fashion Calendar 2011 named SAVE PLANET.
· Ms.Dhanya.P is a well known fashion stylist in film field.
· Ms.Dhanya.K.B and Ms.Saranya.T.S are functioning as costume designer and stylist for various ad films. Ms.Dhanya.K.B is currently working as a lecturer in the Department of Fashion, Women's Study Centre.
· Mrs.Nivethitha Sanjay is currently working as a lecturer in the Dept.of Fashion,Women's study centre.
· Ms.Arya Appukkutan is currently doing a film project.
· Ms.Tinu Rose Alex is a lecturer in the community college, Assumption College,Changanassery.
· Ms.Neetha Joseph is functioning as visual Merchandiser in chain stores of Fab India,Chennai
· Ms.Divya Mathew is working with Fab india as Store Merchandiser.
· Ms.Ayana Appukuttan, Ms.Sruthy Unnikrishnan, Ms.Jovia mary Josephine, and Saranya.V.O. are functioning as Styling assistants.
