The former union(2005-06)         had held a Signature Campaign bagging the support of over 15,000 citizens against the harrassment faced by women in their daily life, the petition of which was then handed over to        Sr.K Padmakumar         IPS,DIG of police.He addressed the gathering on the issue, offered his support and also encouraged the student not to shun their experiences but to be more impulsive and react to the situation.

The students have also raised complaints against people using camera phones at public places, espeacially at bus stops near educational institutions. Other issues included in our petition were crank calls and messages exihibitionism by perverted men. DIG promised us         to launch a helpline, a toll-free number, to check eve-teasing and harassments rampant in the city.
