Mathematics and Statistics |
The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1948.
A high standard is maintained in the department when it comes to developing young minds. Efficiency in teaching couples with good moral conduct. The availability of the faculty to the students, even out of class hours is emphasized. The Department is also well equipped with new sophisticated devices for the betterment of the students in their learning process. The teachers are deputed to participate in orientation courses, refresher courses organized by universities, UGC, AIACHE etc.
The department caters to the over-all development of the students through counseling sessions, various competitions, seminars, personality development programmes and special tuitions for weak students. Many students of the department are members of NSS and NCC and take part in camps and other social welfare programmes. |

REGULAR ACTIVITIES
- Tutorial System : The department takes keen interest in the tutorial systems. Each teacher is in charge of about 30 students. She collect the Bio-Data and finds time to talk with these students, discusses their problems and helps them to find a solution.
- Parent Teacher Meetings : The faculty meets parents of students, classwise, atleast once in a term to discuss the progress of their children. Teachers handling various interdisciplinary subjects are also invited to these meetings. Our experiance tells us that this programme is appreciated by the parents and is of benefit to the students
- Remedial Classes : Teachers find time to have the weaker students and to clarify the doubts of the outstanding students. The students preparing for professional courses are also given useful hints as to how to master the course they have chosen.
- Value Education : The spritual growth of the students stands on a equal footing with any other subject taught. We also handle Moral instruction classes.
- Tours and Excursions : Our aim is not academic excellence alone. We organise classwise Excursions for the students. This besides being a time of relaxation also brings them closer to each other and to the staff members who accompany them. We believe Excursions are an education in themselves and the students cherish the memories of such outings for a long time.
