History was introduced in the Pre-Degree level as the fifth group(Indian History,World History and English Literature) and served as a feedes group for B.A.Literature.it was under the able incentive of our former principal,Sr.Emeline that the undergraduate course in History was started in 1993.

Though they come in with average and below average standards, we try to groom them into positive and vibrant personalities .in fact they enter as cocoons , but fly out as butterflies. Department maintains a holistic approach and is keen on the all round development of the students.

Department acitivities

An Exhibition on 'Kerala History and Culture' as well as on 'Numismatic sources in Indian History 'was conducted on 10th August 2009 , in association with the Cochin Numismatic society.For the last four years, the department has released a magazine of its own'Hast' .As part of the curriculum, the students visited historical places like Wayanad.

On the 22nd of December, students of History and French Department visited Bhagavati Vilasam Higher Secondary School, Nayarambalam as part of TROP.it was a new experience to the students of our department.

-Nayana Tensing participated in inter DTE shooting competition 2010 at Jalandhar.
-Aswathy Umesan and Nayana Tensing got the certificate in recognition to their contribution in the field of public health, social welfare and commitment to the society by the Hon.Former justice V.R.Krishna Iyer
