| St. Teresa's College has undertaken a major project on women domestic workers in Ernakulam. This project has been approved by the University Grants Commission and was selected from the proposals submitted by college teachers all over India. 70% of the domestic workers are women and their work remain unrecognized as a legitimate form of activity. Domestic Workers Meet was conducted with an aim to probe into their problems and issues. 150 domestic workers participated in the programme. The District Collector Sri. Mohammed Hanish inaugurated the meet on 9th December,2007 at the college auditorium. Principal, Rev. Sr. Christabelle presided over the function.She appreciated the hardwork done by the domestic workers. Reputed journalist Smt. Leela Menon urged the domestic workers to fight for their rights. The Principal Investigator of the project, Dr.Gladis Mary John welcomed the gathering. Smt.Dhanya,research fellow, proposed the vote of thanks. |
